Tracy Yoshikawa D’Errico passed away on May 6, 2020 after a yearlong battle with liposarcoma. In addition to being a cherished wife, daughter, sister, and friend, she was also a beloved teammate. “Yosh” was an inspiration both on and off the soccer field. Whether it was a playoff game or preseason conditioning, she was out there giving it her all and motivating everyone around her. Her positive attitude was a unifying force, making her a leader on the team from day one. You could always count on her natural instincts on the field and her ability to see the next pass before the ball hit her feet. She played with composure and confidence and always had unwavering faith in her team. Most importantly, Tracy put her heart into every single game and practice and was a kind and caring friend to all of her teammates.
Her Hackett soccer family plans to honor her with a memorial bench placed at the school’s soccer field. The bench will feature a plaque that reads:
In loving memory of Tracy “Yosh” Yoshikawa D’Errico.
She loved the game. (HCC Soccer 2002-2006)
Um-ba-lay, Ba-la-way, Ba-la-way, 1-2-3 IRISH!
Though her past teammates will always keep her memory alive, we hope that this bench will inspire current and future players as well. We know Yosh will always be there in spirit rooting on the Irish.
Please join us in honoring Tracy’s memory by donating to help cover the cost of the bench and plaque. Any additional funds collected will be donated in Tracy’s name to the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center.
